A Taste of Hot Apple Cider edited by N.J. Lindquist

A Taste of Hot Apple Cider by N.J. Linquist

Pull up a nice, warm, cozy chair and enjoy some Hot Apple Cider along with me.

Move in closer. That’s it. We’ll all share our stories together, like a group of close friends. Stories of heartbreak and redemption―trouble and overcoming―questioning our faith and embracing it―and, most of all, finding hope at the end of every path.

There’s just nothing like a circle of warm friends to share life with. All 15 of us will take turns opening up our hearts to you―sharing little pieces of ourselves. Come and join us.

We’ll even include discussion questions so you can reflect on our stories or explore the themes with a group.

Our first two Hot Apple Cider anthologies won a number of awards and have nearly 90,000 print copies in circulation. They’re also now available as ebooks.

Hot Apple Cider with Cinnamon edited by N.J. Lindquist

Hot Apple Cider with Cinnamon by N.J. Lindquist

The men, women, and children in these stories experienced love in ways they’d never have thought of, from people they might not normally have noticed, and in surprising places:

– on the wrong side of the tracks in small-town Ontario
– beside a wood burning stove in the Central African Republic
– in the words of an old letter in a New Brunswick house
– next to a burned-out Saskatchewan farmhouse
– upon a deserted country road in British Columbia
– adjacent to a chopped-down jackfruit tree in the Philippines
– over a table in an empty Alberta restaurant
– at a bus stop in a Quebec city
– from the bombed-out ruins of a house in the Netherlands

We hope the stories in this book will encourage you to make a difference in the lives of the people around you by showing love toward them, even when you don’t feel particularly loving.

“I love this collection of stories and poems told by great Canadians; stories of real people that transcend the ages. Many of these stories felt like they were a leaf from my own life book. You will find this reading hilarious, therapeutic and inspirational. A must-read for all book lovers.” ―Randall W. Young, Manager, Artists Relationships, World Vision Canada

67 true stories, short fiction, and poems from 61 writers from across Canada.

Rose Seiler Scott is the author of “Threaten to Undo Us” which was released in 2015. Rose is also a contributing writer to “Hot Apple Cider with Cinnamon”.

Rose Seiler Scott lives in Surrey, BC with her husband and their two youngest who aren’t really children anymore. Until her daughter was born, she was the lone feminine voice in a crowd of loud and louder, but the older two are married, which nicely evens the male-female ratio when everyone comes to dinner.

She knew when she was about ten she wanted to be a writer, but life being what it is, she sort of forgot for a few years and did stints as a bookkeeper, piano teacher and PAC President at my kids’ school.

Glynis is an award-winning writer and children’s author and cannot imagine a world without little people to inspire and bless her. She has lived in Drayton with her husband, for 30 years. Glynis got her first break and her real start in writing professionally writing a weekly column – Sugar and Spice – in the Drayton Community News. She wrote that column for over 11 years. She was a private tutor for over 18 years but recently had to give that up because she needed her classroom converted to a ‘granddad’ apartment for her 89 year old father. Glynis misses her students but still manages to surround herself with children at every opportunity. She loves to collect story-fodder from the everyday.

“It’s amazing where and when inspiration comes,” says Glynis. Writing for children is her first love and she also writes devotions, short stories, blog posts and rejoices daily because she is constantly reminded about God’s amazing grace and His unconditional love.

Spur of the Moment by Marcia Lee Laycock

A Spur of the Moment by Marcia Lee Laycock

An expanded 3rd edition of the popular devotional, Spur of the Moment. Whether Laycock was standing on the shore of Lake Superior, rafting down the Yukon River or exploring caves in Papau New Guinea, she listened for the voice of God the Creator. Another author, Hugh Smith, reveals the essence of her work, “Marcia Laycock has a gift for collecting and polishing the dusty stones of everyday life.” Laycock has a knack for using personal experiences to deepen thoughts about God’s existence and care. Like a friend who is willing to share a private reflection with you across the kitchen table, Laycock lays out her soul for others to benefit.
